Man in Diabetic Shock Gets Tasered
1 minutes
SOURCE
An Oklahoma driver ended up on the wrong side of a police taser because a medical condition left him helpless.
El Reno police officers approached a vehicle that had spun-out on the interstate. Inside was a man who they thought was drunk or on drugs.
The man was wrestled out of his truck on Interstate 40 because he wasn't cooperating with police. Moments later police tazed the man.
After several attempts officers were finally able to get the combative man into custody. What they don't realize is the 53-year-old wasn't drunk or on drugs. He's was in severe diabetic shock. In fact, his blood sugar level at the time was 11.
Experts say a person suffering from diabetic shock will often show signs or symptoms closely related to somebody who's intoxicated. That can include confusion, aggression, shaking, sweating and disorientation.
"Eleven is pretty low blood sugar and he would not be able to process those commands coming from the officers," explained Dr. Mary Ann Bauman.
Police Chief Ken Brown said his officers had no way of knowing the man who was resisting arrest was in need of medical attention. "His actions, his demeanor, his lack to communicate led the officers to believe he was under the influence of intoxicants or narcotics."
Once police realized what was really happening, they called an ambulance and the man was rushed to the hospital. It was there police finally saw his medical alert necklace hidden under layers of clothing.
"Unfortunately, from the officers' aspect, they feel extremely bad after they learned that it in fact was a medical need and not someone who was under the influence of an intoxicant, drug or alcohol," Brown said.
How can a man in a diabetic coma be combative?
He absolutely would not have resisted.
Nor would he have cooperated.
Because he couldnt do anything.
He was UNCONCIOUS for heavens sake.
He would have been totally relaxed and heavy and unresponsive.
And there would have been NO SMELL of alcohol around him at all.
So it is now ILLEGAL to be UNCONCIOUS around the police.
Otherwise the police will call you a COMBATIVE person.

Speeding Ticket Taser
Massey was told twice to turn around and put his hands behind his back. He refused and started walking to his car. He was told twice to turn around but he continued to his car. That is resisting within the meaning of the law.
"I tasered him because he did not follow my instructions."
Resisting an officer is defined: "In criminal law, the offence of obstructing, opposing, and endeavoring to prevent (with or without force)a peace officer in the execution of a writ or in the lawful discharge of his duty while making an arrest or otherwise enforcing the peace."
What if Massey was partially deaf? He was walking towards his car, away from the police officer. So he therefore cannot lip-read because he cant see the officers mouth. Naturally he would not hear the officer telling him to stop and turn around.
If that was me, and I am partially deaf, I would not always hear anyone behind me telling me to turn around. So if I was tasered, and killed (because I also have a bad heart), supposedly for resisting, I would have been killed because the officer was culturally insensitive, and too impatient to ask questions.
"You tasered him because you did not stop to think that he might have been deaf or otherwise unable to hear or comprehend you."
Ok so Massey was not deaf, and he was not killed, but here is more information.
Massey was simply asking what speed he had been clocked at by the police. And at the end of the video, apparently the police says to his partner that he (Massey) "wanted to be in charge" (because he was asking for details and proof of speeding as was his right). The police no longer like citizens asking for proof. The police are now in charge - which means that America is now a POLICE STATE.

University Florida student TASERED for asking questions
What are the POLICE so scared of? Are they scared of the public? They sure seem to act as though the PUBLIC have become a threat to them. This student (Andrew Meyers) had a perfect right to ask Senator Kerry his questions. Sure they were a bit long winded, but Kerry was still willing to answer them. The police arrested Meyers, did NOT inform of his Miranda rights, and then dragged him to the ground and shocked him. They tasered him. Just for asking a long winded question. September 2007 (3.5 minutes)
Or does it have more to do with the fact that the Presidents brother is the Governor of Florida, and the laws may be getting more draconian in that state than the rest of the country.
